I've joined the Sith

I received some late night revisions to a powerpoint deck. I managed to pull into a coffee shop early this morning to execute said changes prior to the 9AM meeting. Let's see where I started to fall towards the dark side...
  • I was in starbucks
  • I was using a macbook pro (17 inch no less)
  • I was drinking a Venti with room.
  • I was wearing shades
  • I had noise canceling headphones on.

After 3 people came up to see my computer, it was then I realized I had become the very thing I swore to destroy

You forgot to add that you were probably A) driving an SUV and you were B) coming from a little box on a hillside...

COMPLIANCE!

Dude, that's horrible. I really don't want to offer you any sympathy. You should go spend a week in the woods living off nothing but animals you can kill with a 9 iron.

Seamus - you're just upset because you have to drink that over roasted sanka they try to pass off as coffee at the hot chocolate sparrow. Or the 10W-30 that comes out of a pump-top thermos at the Brewster General Store. Don't worry my friend, I'm sure a starbucks will open on Harwich road soon enough, and then you can finally find the happiness you only feign at having now.

I could use some Dunk's though. Fill it to the rim...

A Starbucks just opened in the Harwich Stop and Shop...dark wood and comfy chairs and all. We really are moving up in the world here on the Cape.

I think Seamus is more upset that you have a 17 inch Macbook and he doesn't.

Excellent. I've lived in places with local shops that have better coffee than starbucks. Unfortunately neither Fort Collins nor the Lower Cape make that cut. I think starbucks created fake FUD around over roasting their beans - so local roasters, trying to avoid that, actually under roast. That, and I don't care how locally owned you are - if you are serving coffee out of a pump top thermos decanter, your coffee is going to suck.

The 17 inch is okay - if I didn't need the screen space, I'd get a 15 next time. I'm sure he's just waiting for the 19 inch macbook pro to come out. I hear that's a good workout for your abs, getting in and out of the comfy chairs with your laptop.

No. I'm not suffering from any Laptop Lust or Coffee Lust right now. My current affliction is Mountain Bike Lust, which I think I'll be able to manage indulging in this season. Coming soon, though, is New Ski Lust, which might be harder to resist... Then by spring I might be back to Laptop Lust. I'm just a poor pawn in a marketing shell game between Apple, Specialized, and Dynastar. Poor me (both meanings of poor).
